Key Competencies And Recent Achievements

Demonstrated excellence in team development, with a proven track record of transforming underperforming units into high achieving cohesive teams. Mentored and developed a team of 4 direct reports to 8 direct reports and 16 indirect reports as a part of a core operational management team, leading a total of 240+ FTE, NZ Customs (Auckland Airport)., Established a robust structure in collaboration with operational and policy groups, facilitating comprehensive training, reporting mechanisms and regular forums. This resulted in a proactive and well co-ordinated approach to H&S across the organisation, to prevent further incidents., Recognised for skills in change management processes across multiple organisations. I managed several streams of projects, people and processes to ensure the operation had continuity and progression for increased volumes and a risk based approach. Te Iho Project (NZ Post), Established a strong process utilising clean data, to analyse freight loss through the NZ Post network. With a strong eye on detail I developed strategies to implement into the operational areas, which helped direct the align resources to risk. An end-to-end process model was adopted by 3 corresponding managers to ensure organisational cohesion and reduction in loss of freight and safety incidents. Loss reduction of 12-15% in 18 months., Implemented a customer service focus towards lost freight and security compliance. Introduced a “whole of NZ Post” investigation response to lost freight that enabled customers to receive compensation within 5 days up to $2000 per claim, where loss of freight was caused by NZ Post. The process included claims, investigation, security and processing and sales managers and their teams. Customer satisfaction surveys feedback increased 15%, after being more responsive, decisive in our decision making and listening to our customers.

Operational Management Specific Skills

Risk management of all investigation files over $1000 in value., Development of security risk strategies across the NZ Post network, promoting preventative security strategies., 8 x direct reports (security advisors, security analyst, physical security manager and security technicians), Delivery of safety and vehicle audit and inspection programmes, Private Security contractors to NZ Post, Private investigations teams contracted to NZ post, Development and implementation of operational procedures in accordance with organisation policy and strategies., Responsible for access control systems and procedures via 3rd party contractor, ensuring performance SLA’s are adhered to and delivered consistently., Responsible for CCTV monitoring nationally, including scoping, layout, implementation and integration. Actively involved with CCTV operation rooms, functions and response plans., MBIE Operational Manager for Covid response plan – ensuring all health risks were managed and prevented with effective planning, communication and execution of duties., Security team deployment and security of hotel facility., Developed and led emergency response plans and attended to emergency incidents., National investigations Manager NZ Customs Service (NZCS), Tower Insurance, NZ Post, Cargo Manager Auckland Airport (NZCS) – ensuring all policy, procedures and legislation was understood, applied and managed appropriately.

What Sets Me Apart

Facility management: 2020-2022 within the Governments Covid Response, I was responsible for facility management of the Pullman, Crowne Plaza, Grand Millennium and Waipuna Hotels. I had overall responsibility for all safety and care of returning travellers (900+ per fortnight), staff, hotel workers, health, private security and defence force workers. Led initiatives to deliver the Covid Response Framework with multi-agency teams. Responsible for the delivery of world-class service under very strict provisions and high level media scrutiny and Govt watch group. Led and coached health, defence, security and hotel teams to deliver consistently over a two year period, without detriment to their organisational values and culture. Managed all contractors, vendors under the Covid framework, without detriment to their health and safety and that of the returnees. Led emergency and evacuation training daily, conducted over 20 evacuations throughout Covid period, without compromise to anyone’s health and safety.
