Project Title: Rakaia Huts Resort Development

Project description:

Contributed to the design of Rakaia Huts Resort and community infrastructure upgrades, overseeing the development of luxury and budget accommodation buildings, along with their foundations and extensions to water systems. As the Geotechnical Engineer on a collaborative 6 engineers team, ensured smooth progress in geotechnical aspects.

Personal Contributions:

  • Facilitated communication in engineering meetings with structural and water engineers to ensure project progress and resolve issues.
  • Led site investigation, providing crucial recommendations for building placement based on the site conditions.
  • Selected shallow foundation system and devised ground improvement plan to ensure buildings
  • Conducted liquefaction analysis using CPT data to assess the severity and the potential lateral spreading effects on surrounding environment.
  • Collaborated with structural engineers to determine layout and dimensions of building foundations and calculate foundation bearing capacity and seismic lateral load resistance.
  • Identified the appropriate level of Engineering New Zealand Construction Monitoring to ensure compliance with standards for construction.
  • Provided construction risk minimization recommendations and safety in design.
  • Developed detailed geotechnical design drawings to guide the project effectively.
  • Authored a comprehensive geotechnical design features report summarizing analyses and information to support project progress.
