Kia Ora, my name is Matthew, I am 20 and a current Bachelor of Commerce Student in my third year at the University of Auckland. Specifically, I am majoring in business analytics and commercial law. I currently work part-time as a retail assistant for Evo Cycles. I am a hard-working individual, who loves a new challenge as well as being a committed and driven person, which leads to a high caliber of work being created. I try and undertake any task to the best of my abilities and am not afraid to ask for help when needed. I am committed to learning how to perfect my work and enhance my skillset, as this will enable me to complete my work to a high standard that I am proud of.

Retail Assistant

  • Currently working part time as a sales assistant based at Evo Cycles Orewa
  • Working twice a week however over the summer period I could be found working upwards of six days a week
  • Based in the Orewa branch, however I have worked all over Auckland
  • While my job title is limited to sales, I have assisted in the workshop as a mechanic, when need be, which requires lateral thinking to solve problems
  • Whilst at Evo, I have been tasked with managing showrooms, conducting stocktakes, fixing stock errors, cashing up tills and conducted everyday tasks such as receiving and sending stock.

Trolley Boy

  • Academic cups in primary school: I received 4 academic cups in primary school for being the top in the class academically.
  • Scholars award in Intermediate: I received a scholars award in intermediate for being one of the top students in my cohort
  • 1st in NCEA Level One Digital Technology – Computing: I received 1st in the digital technology computing subject for my year.

Outside Of University

I am an avid cyclist and formerly rode for Westlake Boys'. I have been riding for 6 years., I have been playing football for 10 years and have received various MVP awards., I was a part of the Westlake Interact Club when in high school and have participated in the various Community Clean Ups that the Group has done.

Volunteer Experience

  • Soup Kitchens, Jun 2023, Current, This is a community organisation run by Life Community and involves helping to run a soup kitchen based in Northcote once a week. I assist in set up and pack down as well as serving food to people in need.
  • Church Kids Team, Feb 2023, Current, I volunteer to look after younger children (aged between 1-7) at church. I have been doing this for the last year and do this three times a month.
  • Church Usher, Feb 2018, Current, I have volunteered in church, as an usher for the last six years. I do this once every 3 weeks.
  • Student Librarian, 2017, 2021, Being on duty for at least one lunch a week. Involves shelving books, issuing books and helping people locate books.
  • Peer Tutor, February 2019, 2021, Involves tutoring a Year 9 in various subjects including: Maths, English, Social Sciences and Science once a week.
  • Study Breakfast Tutoring, Sept 2020, 2021, This involves tutoring a year 10 student in various subjects including: Maths, English, Social Sciences and Science once a week starting at 7:30 and finishing at 8:30.

Hobbies and Interests

My interests include reading, cycling, playing football and basketball with my brothers.
