I have really enjoyed this part of the electrical industry as a Traction Line Mechanic with experience in overhead line construction and team leadership. I feel like I have excelled in leading groups of people in a few of the electrification projects I have been a part of and exceptional project delivery under pressure and adept at managing teams in high-stakes environments. Holding dual licensing, showcasing my versatility in the electrical industry.
I started as a traction lineman at John Holland where we worked on 1500v DC in the Wellington region. Working on the Johnsonville line, Wellington yard but predominantly completing construction works on the NIMT, Kapiti line and Wairarapa Line. Throughout these works it consisted of working day shifts and night shifts. During WMUP a lot of the work consisted of installation of new masts, portals and TTC’s, running catenary and contact wire, small part steel installation, SI installations and general registration. After only being there for just over a year I was offered a leading hand position by the company for an Electrification project in Auckland, P2P, 2500v DC , Twin track 36km of OLE Install (Pukekohe to Papakura). Here I led teams up to 4-6 people every shift, completing construction works in a greenfield environment starting from Dec 2022 to May 2024. In this position I dealt and managed people and works at most times under pressure. During P2P works John Holland was also awarded Wiri stabling yard, where again I worked as a leading hand in a greenfield environment and electrified this part of the network for AT (Auckland Transport). I have also been lucky enough to have been sent by the company to Australia to do some FIFO work after these projects had been completed. I spent 4 months in the year 2024 doing FIFO work where I acquired tickets and qualifications to work in Queensland and New South Wales. I am also able to work abroad if I need to. Returning back to New Zealand for some work I have been working on Wiri2QuayPark doing the exact same construction works as well.
