  • We have around 16 different companies ranging from Private Companies to CC’s and Trusts. The companies are all based around the Construction Industry. The main Company is Civil Engineering and there are development Companies and Rental Companies. We are always opening and closing smaller Companies. We have dealt extensively with SARS on Income Tax queries and our Audit file is very complicated regarding the jobs/ contracts completion and provisions. During my fifteen years with the Company, we have converted our accounting system from DOS based to Windows, changed Company Policies and Procedures, implemented Health and Safety and become fully BBBEE compliant. This group was always privately owned and as such, legalities were quite slack. Over the years, we have become completely professional and Legislation compliant.

  • We have three Companies running, from a Trust, to a Property Rental Company to our main Company. I have been instrumental in reviving the property Company and getting it re-registered for VAT etc. and setting up the accounting procedures. Registration of the Bonds, changing Directors and drawing up legal agreements between all the parties involved. It was very challenging, but it was an exciting learning curve none the less. When I joined Apeco, their Accounting system was mainly run manually, they also ran two computer systems parallel, creating duplicate work for all staff concerned. I instituted new systems and consolidated both the Computer Programs and they now run one Accounting system and have managed to reduce an already small staff by two members. The paper flow is now more streamline and the accounts are ready much sooner than in the past.

Accomplishments

    I have managed to split a Companies accounts into 3 different divisions when the Company was being sold piece meal at Secureco (PTY) LTD.

    I updated the Accounting package at Afrocon (PTY) LTD form a DOS based package to windows when I started with the Company. During the 15 years, I kept the systems updated for all Companies and managed to write reports for all new Companies opened up.

    I managed my staff through 2 rounds of restructuring while at Afrocon (PTY) LTD when the markets dipped.

    Been deeply involved in the change over of our ERP at Access NZ 2005 Limited.
