My personal philosophy of early childhood education is that I believe all children deserve equal opportunities. In my opinion, well-being, health and safety and encouragement to further explore and contribute to the world around them are fundamental parts of education for infants, toddlers and young children.
I believe that all children have individual ways of learning, the way one child builds an understanding may not necessarily be the same as another, and this needs to be incorporated in everyday teaching. I believe that positive guidance strategies should be implemented and behaviour worthy of imitation should be modelled to children for the learning of appropriate behaviour.
I believe that I communicate well with children, their families and fellow educators; I incorporate active listening and te reo Maori in conversations.
I am confident in my role as an educator and positive responses come from parents, children and other teachers alike about my practice.
These young children are our future.
