Summary

Raised in Ōpōtiki, I pursued higher education at the University of Waikato, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Te Reo Māori, a Diploma in Education, and a Masters in Education. Overcoming systemic barriers fueled my commitment to helping young Māori navigate similar challenges. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I employ my personal experiences and adaptable approaches to provide optimal learning experiences. Inspired by the proverb 'Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro nōna te ngahere, ko te manu e kai ana i te mātauranga nōna te ao,' I am dedicated to nurturing our future leaders and supporting our whānau, hapū, and iwi. My decade-long educational journey, coupled with raising five tamariki and caring for my niece and nephew, brings a rich understanding to my role as a Māori educator. Balancing family responsibilities with teaching, and supported by my partner, I offer a holistic perspective that reinforces my dedication to the flourishing of our tamariki and whānau within Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Whānui.
