I have been studying for a BA in Te Reo Māori & Māori and Indigenous Studies at the University of Waikato. I have been fortunate to be taught by many outstanding kaiako and they have inspired me to pursue a career in education.
I left Ōtautahi in 2020 and moved to the University of Waikato. I felt it was the best place for me to learn our language, tikanga and mātauranga. Being immersed in this environment is helping me grow and achieve my goals.
Kapa haka is a huge part of my life and performing with the Māori Student Association Te Waiora has been a highlight of my time at Uni. I was invited to join Te Hekenga ā Rangi, a Te Arawa kapa based at Maketū, and my proudest haka moment was when we made the finals at Te Matatini 2023 in Tāmaki.
Physical fitness is another passion of mine and I plan to enrol in a Personal Training Course at NZ Institutute of Health and Fitness this year.
During semester break I have worked as a Kaiāwhina at my old kura Te Pā o Rākaihautū. Returning to help my teina was a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
I am hardworking, reliable, organized, proactive and punctual with a team-oriented mentality and would like to bring these pukenga to Deanwell School.
