Volunteer Experience

  • Until recently I have volunteered in the community as a parent representative on the Rhode Street School Board of Trustees from 2019 to 2023.
  • I have served in various non-paid positions in several auxiliaries as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints over the span of my life.
  • I have represented my whaanau, iwi, rohe and kapa Kia Ngawari of Whakatuu (Nelson) at the National Kapahaka Competitions in 1990, 1992 and 1994. Most recently I performed at the Ngahau a rohe in 2021 for Kia Ngawari in Whakatuu.

Hobbies and Interests

  • Family - Supporting and nurturing my 6 children and 4 mokopuna to thrive and achieve their goals.
  • Close friends – I cherish my dear friends and love spending time with them.
  • Performing arts - I love participating in and watching Kapahaka
  • Reading – I enjoy reading. I have recently read Wayfinding Leadership and currently reading Dare to Lead by Brene Brown.
  • Travelling - I love exploring this beautiful country and traveling internationally.
  • Basketball – I currently play Social Grade Basketball. Since 2020 I have medalled at the Maori Basketball National competition held annually in Rotorua for 1 of my iwi – Ngati Koata.
  • Running - I strive to maintain physical wellbeing and good health by running which helps me grow self discipline.
