Over the past 9 years I have taken on multiple roles within the association, increasing my leadership as opportunity has allowed. I have been supporting two teams as team leader for the past year, and most recently was in the position of Acting Centre Manager for 10 weeks. I have focussed the past year of my professional growth cycle to learn more about legislation and regulatory requirements of managing a centre, which has enabled me to work both along side the current centre manager and independently to ensure the smooth and efficient running of HPELC. This term I have been participating the Education Hub leadership course which has fostered a sense of both confidence and competence in my leadership skills.
I have strong connections in our learning community with the school, and with our support network via the Ministry of Education (working with children with additional needs) which ensures I can support our team to provide the best possible learning outcomes for all of the Tamariki that pass through our centre, beyond their years with us.
I have strong relationships with our centre families, and with our teachers, and feel that I am respected and valued as a leader by both.
The past term as Acting Centre Manager has been a great experience for me, and has made me realise that I am ready for the shift towards higher leadership on a permanent basis.
I feel with the ongoing support and guidance from our support office, I would be a good candidate for the position.
