My Duties and Responsibilities as a Registered Nurse

Overseeing patient's overall medical condition, providing nursing interventions as per care plan. Assessing for signs and symptoms of health deterioration, observing and reporting all symptoms and reactions from interventions to the doctors and other allied health team. Medication administrations as per doctors' orders. Monitoring and recording vital signs at regular intervals, taking medical history into account. Documenting nursing interventions, observations and important details in the progress notes. Updating care plans and informing the healthcare team and next of kin regarding changes. Patient education for their own understanding of condition and treatments as planned. Delegating tasks to HCA staff, assisting and supporting colleagues and other allied healthcare professionals to attain every patient's wellbeing.

Brief Description of Facility

  • Tauranga Hospital is a secondary hospital located in the Bay of Plenty, NZ. The facility has a 24-hour emergency department and 349 inpatient beds. It provides a range of medical, surgical, children's health, mental health and obstetrics services. Outpatient services include clinical support services, diagnostics and rehabilitation services.
  • Te Poutama Arawhiti – Acute Stroke, Rehabilitation and Specialist Health Services for Older People (SHSOP) is located in Tauranga Hospital, Bay of Plenty, NZ. Also known as Health in Ageing (HIA) specialist services for older people. A 40-bed capacity hospital ward catering to stroke and rehab patients cared for by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, PT/OT, social workers, healthcare assistants and other allied health care workers.
  • Southland Hospital is a 157+ bed capacity, secondary level 4 base facility situated in Invercargill City, NZ. Built in late 2004. Providing acute medical and surgical, outpatient clinics, day procedures, 24-hour emergency department, comprehensive ancillary facilities including laboratory, medical imaging, medical diagnostics, specialist paediatric, maternity, rehabilitation and therapy services.
  • Radius Althorp is owned by Radius Residential Care Limited, located in Pyes Pa Tauranga NZ. A 90-bed capacity Hospital, Rest Home, Dementia and Psychogeriatric levels of care provider. Offering an in-patient service for respite care, palliative care, rehabilitation and long-term aged residential care.
  • Bethlehem Views Arvida Care and Wellbeing is a residential care institution built for the care of the elderly, located in Tauranga, NZ. Offers 68 rooms in the Hospital and Rest Home unit and 20 rooms in the Memory Care department. Residents are attended by a General Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurses, Physiotherapist and Healthcare Assistants and other multi-disciplinary team in rendering optimum healthcare.
  • Heritage Lifecare is one of the largest providers of Residential Aged Care services in New Zealand. Carter House Lifecare is one of their facilities which is located in Te Puke, New Zealand. A 65-bed capacity healthcare facility having a Rest Home, Hospital, and Dementia level care units. Each area provides the professional care and support for the aged group who are unable to live independently.
  • Beneavin House is one of First Care's retirement homes in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Established in 2009 providing healthcare and accommodation to 150 long stay residents. Convalescent care to patients discharged from hospital following surgery and /or medical episodes and requiring some extra medical, nursing and rehabilitative care before and Respite care to older persons on a private basis.
