Health Care Assistant, Leaders of Self, Waikato, Assisting with routine tasks of daily living for patients under delegation and direction from a registered nurse including attending to personal hygiene, mobilising and positioning patients, feeding patients, assisting with elimination, attending to communication needs such as letter writing, assisting with rehabilitation, Applying culturally safe principles in the workplace., Understanding their own role within the group or team and functions as a member of the care team by contributing to teamwork., Interacting with others, and actively listening in order to gain information., Accessing organisational policies and procedures to inform their work., Functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team, Reporting observed changes in a consumer s health status to the registered health professional., Demonstrating appropriate infection control procedures., Appropriate communication in the workplace., Carrying out assigned tasks such as ordering, cleaning, restocking, tidying and checking of equipment., Documentation in a consumer s notes as directed by the registered health professional., Carrying out assigned administrative tasks., Measuring, reporting and documenting assigned tasks in a health, disability or community setting., Escorting stable patients who do not need a clinical handover., Describing and demonstrating the use and care of assistive and moving equipment., Describing and applying safe manual handling principles and techniques., Contributing to fall prevention and intervention procedures., Implementing rehabilitation strategies to improve function., Performing assigned tasks and activities required for service delivery such as bed making, restocking, cleaning spills/sluice/equipment, removing rubbish and linen, assisting with administrative tasks., Performing other duties considered to be within the scope of this role as agreed by you and your manager.
