I regularly mustered and herded sheep and cattle from various areas of the farm.

Over the time I was working there, we did a variety of different farming roles, including lambing, fencing, plumbing, and tractor driving.

I loved working this job as I got to be outside, hands-on, every day, all day. Whether it was mustering in the mountains or working down in the paddocks, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

Activities

  • I enjoy regularly working out at my local Gym, where I have been a member for the last 2 years
  • I also enjoy time spent outdoors with my family, hunting, tramping, fishing, and swimming.
  • In recent years I have enjoyed river kayaking around the Nelson/Tasman area with my friends as well as completing a weekend river rescue course at the kayak school in Murchison.
  • I have finished a three-week Outward Bound (Mind, Body, and Soul) course which ran from the 12/02/22 to the 12/23/22. This course involved being in a team of 14 other teenagers and participating in a variety of different outdoor activities including tramping, kayaking, sailing, rock climbing, and lots of running, concluding with a 22-kilometer 'half marathon'. I completed this in 1 hour and 39 minutes. Being able to work well in a team was crucial. By the end of this course, I had formed some of my closest friendships and felt proud of my achievements there.
  • For four years I was actively involved in a local Scout troop in Christchurch. Throughout the four years, I steadily progressed in my leadership and became a patrol leader in my final year in Christchurch working with the group.
