One stormy morning my life took a different turn when I trapped a mother cat and her four young kittens. It was that day that Moggies - homes for cats and kittens was born.

Starting and managing a nonprofit animal rescue was a wonderful challenge I didn't know I needed. Here are some of the skills and roles I had to gain or adapt quickly

• Managing a social media account - without this we would not have the community support or adoptions needed to get off the ground.
• Developing partnerships with veterinarians
• Managing animal intakes, assessing health and care needs.
• Securing donations and grants to support medical care, housing and transport
• Creating adoption criteria and other administration logs for record keeping.

Creating a professional organization from nothing was a challenge in trust building.

Over my time at The Warehouse Papamoa I trained and worked in multiple areas and departments. Including but not limited to

• Clothing Department. Merchandising and stock management
• Checkouts / Duty Checkout Supervisor.
• Shop Floor - Full Store
• Jewellery Department
• Entertainment Department
• Product Services - Returns and Refunds
• Price Integrity / Ticketing
• Health and safety team

Every role had its own unique set of tasks and challenges. There were times when I would have to move through multiple departments in a single shift. Juggling not only my primary role, but adapting to the sometimes demanding or fast paced roles I would be covering.

Over my time with the Warehouse I also had the opportunity to join extra projects and teams. This included the store refit team. it was an amazing three months where we dismantled and rebuilt the store in it's entirety.
