I am a believer in hands-on, practical learning, and the merits that this tactile mode of learning presents. I do not proclaim that I know everything in my field, and I am prepared to admit when I do not know something. However, I will take the initiative to try to find a solution to a query or problem if it arises. Mistakes are a core component of learning and are not meant to stigmatize the learner to avoid them. In my current role, I am usually teaching the students who are not considered to be academic learners. I feel that the technical knowledge, skill, and experience developed through a rigorous practical project are just as valuable as an academic path of learning. Craftsmanship should be held in as high regard as academic prowess.
