Paul Pohatu

I am currently in a Resident field service position with Terra-cat.

My duties vary from taking all phone calls direct from my work area. My current area is from Turakina up to Hawera, across to Raetihi, Waiouru back to Turakina. I am the only technician who works full-time in this area for Terra cat. My duties include answering all phone calls, ,diagnosis, parts interpreter, mechanic and planning my own schedule to name but a few. It is a very challenging but also a very rewarding role. Previous to this i was a FIFO mechanic for BHP Billiton in central qld Australia( auckland to brisbane to moranbah) on a rotating 7 days 7 off 7 nights 7 off. (2018 - 2021)

Previous to joining Bhp billiton, i was a resident field service tech for Hastings Deering in Moranbah , qld, Australia.( 2011-2018). I lived in a company provided house in Moranbah during this role. i was a Hastings deering mechanic who attended all mine sites in the bowen basin. Machines worked on in this role varied from d11 dozers, 797f dump trucks, Hitachi 5600, Atlas copco pit viper drills. I was mainly a shovel breakdown mechanic but due to experience was able to cross over to all other machines.

Previous to this, i was employed by Goughs cat and Stevensons engineering ( w stevensons and sons). I completed my apprenticeship with Stevensons in 2001. In these roles i worked all over Nz, Chatham Islands, Fiji ( Vatakoula gold mine and Fiji water), Vanuatu ( Downers nz).

At Bhp i specialised in looking after drills, excavators ( 600ton) and 7495 Shovels.
