Mr Paul Te Poa Karoro Morgan (Ngāti Rārua, Te Mahurehure, Ngā Puhi).
Paul has been at the forefront of economic development for the Māori community for more than 38 years, during which time he has had many directorships, roles with Government and private sector across agribusiness, science and industry. In 2021 Paul was inducted into the NZ Business Hall of Fame.
Paul was recognised at the University of Auckland Aotearoa Māori Business Leaders Awards; Paul received the 2019 Te Tohu mō te Kaiārahi Whakahaere Māori – Māori Governance Leader Award . Paul is the former Chair of Wakatū Incorporation 2001 - 2022. Paul has led the evolution of Kono NZ LLP, a fully integrated business that markets seafood, wine, horticultural produce and fruit leather from its lands and aquaculture farms in Te Tauihu (top of the South Island) to New Zealand and the world.
In his capacity as Managing Director of Fomana Capital Ltd, and Co-Chair, NZ Bio Forestry. Paul additionally is involved with a range of other businesses and organisations spanning the nutraceutical, food ingredient, functional foods, cosmetics, aquaculture, food & beverage sectors and financial services, research and development.
Paul served as CEO of the Federation of Māori Authorities, representing the interests of Māori land business, from 1996 to 2007. In 2009, he was awarded a QSO for his contribution to Māori business and significant developments within the Māori community. Paul has been further recognised CNZM for his contribution to NZ Business and Maori.
