I have a diverse back ground that includes experience in nursing, embalming and being a first Responder. I am a dedicated and caring person, equally committed to caring for both patients and the deceased with the utmost respect and compassion. My strong values of honestly and reliability guide my work, ensuring that I provide the highest level of care and service in all aspects of my professional life.
My role as a HCA in ED involves assisting the Nurses taking vitals hourly and recording them, testing blood sugars, ECG's, monitoring patients, toileting and usual patient cares involved in hospital care. always checking stock and refilling IV trolleys etc. Assisting the ambulance when a patient is brought in to transfer on to the bed. we have to maintain a clean environment at all times so we are tasked with changing linen and cleaning everything after each patient has left. Making the patient feel calm and comfortable .
I Trained to be an Embalmer/ Funeral Director in 2009. It was a very rewarding role working with families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. I was also required to transfer deceased that required further investigation of cause of death, to the pathologist at Nelson hospital Mortuary, I would regularly be involved in the postmortem assisting the mortuary technician at the time.
My role at Hospice Marlborough was assisting the nurses with palliative care for patients at end of life.
I did some courses on palliative care to get more understanding on care for the Dying. This was also a very rewarding Job and I felt very privileged to have been given the role.
I have a huge passion for surfing, fishing, travelling and most importantly spending time with family. especially down at our family bach in the Marlborough sounds.
