As a dedicated Registered Nurse, I have immersed myself in mental health inpatient care for the past year after graduation. With unwavering passion, I aspire to specialise in Mental Health and Addiction Nursing, driven by a profound commitment to supporting individuals facing challenges in coping with their mental health within the community. My journey in mental health care has been enriched by the privilege of working with tangata whaiora, individuals who often encounter difficulties navigating their mental health journey. Through my experiences in mental health forensic rehabilitation and acute adult inpatient units, I have honed my ability to conduct comprehensive mental state examinations, identify risks, and implement tailored interventions with therapeutic communication strategies essential for the formulation of effective recovery plans for tangata whaiora. Despite the pressures of a demanding environment, I possess the resilience to remain composed and organised, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. Recognising the value of teamwork, I actively contribute to collaborative efforts, fostering an environment of mutual support and excellence. My communication skills are a cornerstone in my practice, enabling me to effectively engage with a diverse spectrum of tangata whaiora.
