I am a highly motivated and flexible Dental Practice Manager who started my dental career as a dental assistant in an after hours, emergency setting. I have moved into a mostly administrative role as Practice Manager, but continue to be involved clinically, as the most experienced sedation assistant. I continue to play an active role in the monitoring of sedated patients with the aid of capnography, as well as in the appropriate administration of sedating medications (under the supervision of the Dentist). Having completed the dental modular level 4 CPR course every 2 years, I have a good understanding of basic life support.
As part of my role, I am required to ensure that solid infection prevention and control protocols are in place, and meticulously observed. I am a careful record-keeper and have many years experience handling sensitive patient medical, health and personal information. I have a good understanding of patient confidentiality and consent.
I am also compassionate and caring, which is particularly necessary in my role, as a good majority of our patients come to us for dental treatment with sedation, due to having had past negative dental experiences, resulting in significant dental anxiety. In my experience, fear and anxiety sometimes manifests as aggression and I have become skilled in managing anxious patients in all of its manifestations.
I enjoy being fit and feeling strong, and crossfit is a good community of likeminded people.
