As a dynamic and adaptable professional, I possess a genuine enthusiasm for acquiring new skills and knowledge, underpinned by a remarkable ability to quickly grasp new concepts. With a rich background in community engagement and a wealth of life experiences, I bring a unique perspective to every endeavor.
Having had the privilege of learning from esteemed mentors in Te Ao Māori, I have developed a deep appreciation for our cultural heritage and values. As a strong Māori wahine, I am unwavering in my commitment to standing up for what I believe in and advocating for positive change.
I am confident that my blend of openness to learning, extensive community experience, and steadfast dedication to my cultural identity make me a valuable addition to Raukawa. I am eager to leverage my skills and passion to contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of our community.
Raised in the community of Raukawa in Putāruru, I've had a deep connection to the South Waikato since the age of 5. My educational journey took me through Tapapa Primary School, Putaruru Intermediate, Putaruru College, and finally Te Wharekura o Te Kaokaoroa o Pātetere. Growing up here instilled in me a love for the region and its people.
As an adult, I chose to pursue youth work, driven by the desire to be the support I needed during my own younger years. This passion has fueled my career, leading me to work within the community, particularly focusing on helping rangatahi. Through roles in two different Iwi services, I've gained valuable insights into Maori organizations and learned to navigate within Te Ao Maori.
Living in Tauranga provided me with an opportunity to reconnect with another aspect of my whakapapa, but circumstances have shifted. With my Nan unwell, I feel called to return home. My time away has enriched me, but now I am ready to be there for my family during this challenging time.
