Summary

I am 62 years old and trained as an automotive technician at our family owned service station in Kaitaia commencing in 1977. I went on to achieve 'A Grade' as it was known. I continued to work at the service station until after it was sold and married Dawn in 1982 and have just celebrated our 41st anniversary. After a couple of other bouts of employment I started Rod Knight Automotive in Kaitaia and built that over 15 years. We sold that business in 2005 and it still carry's the original name as a Toyota Parts and Service agent . We moved to North Shore Auckland and eventually resurrected Amac Automotive in the Albany industrial area and ran that until 2008 when family circumstances dictated a change in direction and we purchased a Hydraulink hose run for the Silverdale area.

I operated that until 2021 when I was approached to sell it, which I duly did and worked on a 12 month contract for the new owner. I have not worked from 04/03/2022 until presently due to a medical issue that I have now fully recovered from. I live on a lifestyle block in Dairy Flat and when not attending to that I have been restoring a classic car. Otherwise it is interacting with the family which includes three grown children.
