I am an experienced Physical Education Teacher (13 years at Keri High) focused on developing and implementing relationship based strategies to get the best out of my students. I believe that my strengths as a teacher come from building healthy relationships with my students, I attain great satisfaction and pride at being able to get on the students level regardless of academic ability and/or background and build trusting long lasting relationships. This is evidenced by the numerous students that I am still in contact with to this day. I can see that in my current role at Kerikeri High I have been able to build similar relationships with a wide range of students which i know will continue if I am successful in my application. I have taught NCEA level 1, 2 and 3 with good success and really enjoy teaching the anatomy and biomechanical aspects of the subject.
I also have a huge passion for sport in particular rugby and cricket. Coaching rugby at Kerikeri High over the years have been some of my fondest sporting memories and I extremely excited at the prospect of being able to get back into that role, not just at 1st XV level but right across the year levels but ultimately getting our 1st XV into a meaningful competition such as the North Harbour competition or at least a regular (minimum 3 game) series vs Whangarei Boys, this would be a big driver for me as I believe we are too big of a school with too much talent to not be exposing our students to a higher level of rugby.
