As a Business Advisor at the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), I specialize in Customer & Digital and Finance & Commercial, creating and managing contracts with internal and external stakeholders and providing advice on best practice. Sam has a degree in Radio Broadcasting from the New Zealand Broadcasting School, where I learned how to create engaging and informative content and how to best communicate for various audiences and platforms. Due to work experience, I have developed skills in candidate and client management, social media marketing, and operations and project management. I have worked as a Recruitment Advisor at Hays, where I handled end-to-end Marketing and Communications recruitment, and as an Operations and Project Manager at Presto Resourcing, where I managed hundreds of changing contracts, multiple projects at a time and streamlined processes. My core competencies include attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. I am passionate about the work I do and keep it at a high standard.
In this role I worked as a Business Advisor on the Water Reform Programme (Three Waters). This is a varied role that contains contract creation and management, creating and curating relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing contractual and procurement advice to the business and maintaining a heavily detailed filing system which is reported on weekly and distributed to stakeholders. It is a fast-paced role and has been an intense but rewarding introduction to working in the public sector.
