Dynamic electrician with extensive experience at Tansley Electrical, leading projects like the Lawrence Area School redevelopment. Proven ability in managing teams and delivering complex installations, including HVAC systems and EV chargers. Strong communicator and eager learner, committed to excellence and collaboration in every endeavor.
I started work with Tansley Electrical in early 2018 as an apprentice. I completed my apprenticeship and stayed on with the company where I still work now.
Throughout my time with Tansley, I have been exposed to a large variety of electrical works, such as general outlet and lighting installation, both on a large scale and small, mechanical electrical works, including wiring a mixture of different HVAC systems and all associated controls and more niche works such as installing element wiring on sprinkler piping in the plant room on the Moller Labs building in the University campus, installation of both three-phase and single-phase EV car chargers for both residential use and commercial, as far north as Timaru and down to the Milburn Prison, and emergency lighting maintenance, as well as full system installation, including circuit monitoring works. I have been called upon to work out of town over multiple weeks in Queenstown on numerous occasions.
Some of the notable projects that I have worked on include:
Being the electrical foreman on the Lawrence Area School redevelopment project. A project that allowed me to develop my skills in both my own time management and that of others, as I was given a team of three apprentices over the one and a half years I was working there.
Working on the Polytech Trade School. This job gave me a greater understanding of mechanical projects as I was able to learn off of one of our companies most experienced electricians whilst installing roughly 20 HVAC units, heat pumps and even a 5 tonne capacity hoist to install.
Level 2 and 3 redevelopment of the commerce building at the University of Otago. On this job, my management skills for both time, delegation, and monitoring of apprentices were given a chance to grow as I was put in charge of a team of eight under the supervision of the electrical foreman to demo, rewire, and fit off all aspects of the new Pathway for the English Language Centre department. This included the replacement of 5 distribution boards and the installation of a new mechanical switchboard. The project was to be completed on a tight timeframe, and was a busy site to work on with the various other trades to ensure that nothing was missed. When there were issues, we were able to come up with solutions in a timely manner to avoid holding up not only ourselves, but the other companies as well.
