women's refuges on the North Shore and Kingsland , an advocate team

24/7 Sexual Violence Crisis Manager

  • This position is a pivotal role within the Counselling Services Centre Team, as part of senior management and a role that oversees a 24/7 team to facilitate a free and confidential crisis response service for anyone affected by sexual violence which includes assault or abuse
  • I run a team of up to 16 practitioners, including counselors, social workers and crisis support workers in this space
  • Leadership- Leads, motivates and co-ordinates the team
  • Manage and develop the team which includes support, mentoring and supervision for the team
  • Our team has doubled in size over the last 18 months and I have both employed and mentored the new team members in this space
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly rosters, internal, peer, external and cultural supervision for all staff

  • When this is completed the ladies are offered a 13 week maintenance course which I also facilitated
  • My clients also had one on one counseling and check-ins with me on a weekly basis
  • During this time I kept comprehensive notes within the Salvation Army computer system SAMIS making sure all corrections protocols are met
  • I also provided Corrections with a comprehensive report upon completion
  • I also helped head a new government initiative called Aftercare where clients are supported by myself and my co-workers when they are released back into the community
  • I worked with Case Managers and parole boards within the prison and probation officers, families and community services such as AA or NA, courts, WINZ, counselors or anyone else that could help support reconnection into this woman's life
