KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare for admission (passing of the ventilators and setting the ventilator tubing, prepare pre-medications for intubation, prepare infusion pumps, sedation, and inotropes, place oxygen tubing, suction machine, and tray, make admission bed or radiant warmers and prepare patient admission paper works)
  • Nurse ventilated patients (prn oral, nasal, and ETT suctioning, assisted with endotracheal tube intubation, prepared and monitor patients on inotropes, changed ventilator modes and settings accordingly, assisted with ETT Extubation of patients, monitored patient's vital signs and neuro-obs hourly, prepare to administer, wean patients of sedations and elimination 4hourly) and nursing non ventilated patients.
  • Nurse patients with chest drains (changing the dressing, emptying chest drain and monitoring the content, connect the chest drain bottles back, have knowledge and technique as to how to turn patient with chest drain, and assist surgeons with chest drain insertion)
