Sarah Hurring

BBiomedSc
60 Clonbern Road, Auckland

Summary

Kia Ora, my name is Sarah Hurring and I am a final year Medical Student at the University of Otago, Wellington Campus. I chose a career in Medicine following completion of my Biomedical Sciences degree, where I found my passion lay in the health-focussed and clinical aspect of my studies.

My multi-source feedback consistently portrays excellent team work and communication capabilities, demonstrating strengths in the key skills required as a junior doctor. I am well liked by both colleagues and patients that I have had the opportunity to work alongside, and have proven myself to be reliable, self-motivated and a keen learner. This is reflected in the Deans’ Commendation awards I received in both ELM and ALM, awarded for clinical excellence. I recognise the importance of self-reflection in professional development, and am continuously striving to further myself both professionally and personally.

Although I am deeply passionate about Medicine and improving the health of Aotearoa, I place importance on maintaining a busy and active life outside the professional realm. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, yoga, SCUBA diving, and being out on the water. These interests also allow me to spend time with my family, and my fantastic group of friends. I am an honest, reliable and friendly people-person.
