  • As Maintenance Team Leader within the OSA Division, I am responsible for overseeing the completion of preventative maintenance tasks and breakdowns, planning new installations, working collaboratively with the various engineering departments to achieve set goals, and ensuring the CMMS is up to date and all tasks are assigned and completed. My main focus is that my staff are safe, customers (the production lines) are running smoothly, and our Team Leaders are content.

  • During my apprenticeship, I worked a large number of hours completing my apprenticeship time in only 2 years 10 months.
  • Year 1, I was responsible for ensuring the operation of the workshop was functional, the floor was swept and the tea and lunches were ordered all while practising my new learnings for the industry.
  • Year 2, I was responsible for the complete overhaul and finishing of all valve types including lapping to light bands and testing to 10,000 PsiG using bubble test standards.
  • Year 3, I was leading some small site shutdowns, ensuring lockout systems were in place, Health and Safety standards were meet, and the job complete. Also technically removing and installing valves using rigging and/or cranes on a large number of sites throughout the Central and Upper North Island and Taranaki area.
  • Performing onsite institute flange machining and ultra-lift live safety PRV testing. Some of the sites include: Contact Energy sites: Geothermal in Taupo and Hydro along the Waikato river, Kinleith Pulp and Paper Mill, Tokoroa, All Fonterra dairy sites in the Waikato area, Fertiliser and petrochemical plants in New Plymouth, Otahuhu Power Station, Wiri oil and airport petrol supplies, Chelsea Sugar Factory, Ngawha Power Station
