Tasks and Duties:

  • Understanding and carrying out all aspects of tree work.
  • Consult with the public and/or clients regarding tree maintenance and/or removal.
  • Communication with customers.
  • Maintaining repairs and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.
  • Training and support to apprentices.
  • Identify, inspect, maintain, prune, dismantle, fell, plant and transplant trees.
  • Identify and deal with tree hazards, for example fallen trees after storm damage.
  • Firewood processing and scheduling deliveries.


Fully competent using:

  • Trucks ,excavators, loaders and tractors.
  • Chainsaws, handsaws and pruning equipment.
  • Ropes and climbing equipment such as throw lines and harnesses.
  • Large machines such as volume wood chippers, stump grinders, and elevated working platforms such as cherry pickers.
  • Winches on vehicles or chainsaws.
  • Safety equipment such as reinforced chainsaw pants, helmets, earmuffs, goggles or visors, gloves and boots.
  • Traffic management equipment such as cones and signs.
  • Log processor.
