Summary

My Name is Sela-Maria Talanoa. I am 24 years old and of Maori and Tongan Heritage. I was born in Christchurch but moved to Sydney Australia when I was 6 weeks old but moved back to Christchurch when I started high school.

After high school I attended Lincoln University where I studied a Bachelor of Land Valuation and property management for 2 years. At 20 years old I had met my Husband Adam who was unfortunately was diagnosed with Cancer early on in our relationship. I then spent the next 2 years (01/2021- 12/2022) being Adams full time caregiver whilst working here and there. He was pronounced terminal early 2022 and we married a couple of months later. I then stopped working to better care for Adam but he unfortunately passed away (22/12/2022).

I have since returned to the work force in the Health sector, where I am currently working as a receptionist at the Ara Osteopathy Clinic. The clinic is student run and supervised by qualified Osteopaths. The clinic is within the Ara campus so no 2 days are ever the same, but I enjoy problem solving and working with my team towards positive outcomes. I am very confident that my life and work experiences will hold me in good stead for my future career. Thank you.
