Senior Manager Financial Services Conduct Review Programme (FSCRP)

  • A contract role responsible for leading the Westpac Life (WLL) response to regulatory reviews addressing conduct and culture reporting to the Executive General Manager Customer Outcomes.
  • The role helps deliver strategic outcomes and the specific work encapsulated in the WLL FSCRP work streams as well as oversight and reporting of both the work streams and Systematic Review Programme to the WLL Regulatory Insights Risk Oversight Committee (executive) and WLL Board.
  • Led cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and deliver high-quality results.
  • Engagement and reporting updates to two separate regulators (both the FMA and RBNZ).

  • Coordinated the various phases of complicated remediation projects.
  • Created the Pacific Quality Assurance function (2 staff) and the Internal Audit function (external consultant).
  • This involved coordinating all internal audit engagements, fieldwork and reporting including the selection and management of outsource providers as required.

  • This involved leading seven staff across three functions.
  • In addition to the Risk & Controls responsibilities (above), the role also led the Compliance function along with two separate Quality Assurance teams covering both Sales and Claims.
  • Primary responsibilities included embedding the Enterprise Risk Management approach including the development of risk appetite statements and associated risk tolerances, measuring and improving risk culture, facilitating risk workshops, and monitoring and reporting on risk maturity.
  • Regular liaison with the regulator, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ).
  • The role was also responsible for the fraud framework including coordination of incoming Whistle-blower allegations.
  • Business Continuity includes coordination of the Crisis Management Team, emergency response and coordination in relation to business plans and IT disaster recovery.
