Carting bread for TipTop
Karls Bakery was taken over by Tip-Top.
I was employed in the role of despatch and good receiving person. I worked on my own in this role being responsible for :
. Putting goods as they were recivied into the stores and checking that they agreed to the purchase order plus were in good condition.
. Matching delivery dockets to purchase orders and at times entering the data on the computer.
. Quality checking on the doorsets before packing them.
. Making palettes and wrapping doorsets.
. Organising the transport carriers to collect the doors and the applicable paperwork.
. Monitoring outwork.
. Organising the collection and the emptying of the large waste bins.
In order to do the above I had to drive the forklift and the company ute.
The company worked overtime most weeks including saturdays.
I left this company in order to come to Australia.
I started when the company was known as Stathams Interiors before it was taken over by Cemac Group in 1992 who in turn were taken over by Brendan interiors in 1993.
The company was involved in the manufacture on a bulk scale of high class office furniture.
I was in charge of the aluminium screen shop. This involved cutting and assembling aluminium for use as table legs and screen surrounds. I also had to do the cutting and finishing of fabric materials for the screens.
In addition I helped with the spraying of the table tops and cabinets. At times I also worked in despatch aswell as the finishing of products.
The company was involved in the making of panels and doors for the commercial market.
I started this job straight from school and spent the majority of my time working with veneers. This involved creating layons and the pressing of them, I became sufficently experienced to do complex veneering, to a high quality finish.
