"Let the Mana of Tamariki guide our Mahi"
As an experienced and passionate early childhood teacher, I have a deep understanding of child development and the importance of nurturing young minds. My strong communication and organisation skills allow me to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment for tamariki. I am a Fully Registered and Practising Teacher with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Level 7) with 20+ years of teaching experience within ECE and Kindergarten over all responsibility levels (teacher-Manager-Caretaking Manager and Caretaking Group Manager)
I am confident in my ability to provide high-quality education and care for tamariki. My dedication to ongoing professional development and collaboration with parents and colleagues makes me a valuable asset to any early childhood education team. I specialise in supporting the emotional child through waves of emotion through pedagogy developed through Play Based therapy training. When the emotional child is nurtured they thrive to learn through play.

Strive to be the healthiest I can be physically, mentally and emotionally. Obtain and sustain a healthy work-home life balance and enjoy all the wonders of nature with those who love, care, respect, and acknowledge each other's worth and value.
Continue to develop my teaching philosophy and share my knowledge with as many people as I can for the benefit of tamariki, their whaanau and the wider community.

"Through my observations Shannon has always been approachable with families and she has had to implement a range of strategies in supporting parents in their role and advocating for vulnerable children at times.
Shannon is a relationship focused teacher and she demonstrates a genuine interest in who you are, where you come from and what is important to you.
Shannon was working in the heart of Manurewa when I was mentoring her (south Auckland) where she was working closely with Maori learners and their whanau as well as a range of other cultures within the centre. She often talks about and reflects on the cultural competencies of Tataiako and what these mean in her practice.
Shannon is a reflective teacher and she is always researching and pondering on new ideas to improve practice. She has an open to learning mindset and she is focused on outcomes for children.
Shannon is fun, friendly, hardworking, trustworthy, open to learning, has curriculum passion, strong relationship skills, an ability to communicate clearly to others and lead with a commitment to improvement"
