Summary

Master of Engineering graduate from the University of Auckland, with hands-on experience troubleshooting technical issues using a structured, evidence-based approach. I work well with cross-functional teams and keep communication clear through concise reports and status updates. I learn new tools quickly, take feedback well, and take ownership to drive issues through to resolution. Known for being reliable and coachable: I communicate early, support teammates, and follow through until issues are closed.

Work History

Embedded Engineer Assistant

Xiamen Seebest Smart Home Co., Ltd.
Xiamen, China
11.2023 - 07.2024
  • Took ownership of firmware/device issues from lab and field tests: reproduced problems, collected logs/config evidence, and drove them to verified fixes so releases were not blocked by unclear bugs.
  • Worked closely with hardware and QA to isolate root causes (firmware vs hardware vs test setup) which saved time and reduced trial-and-error.
  • Planned and ran functional tests on controllers and sensor devices; kept results organised and flagged high-risk failures early so the team could prioritise.
  • Maintained regression checks (pairing, reconnect, power cycle, long-run stability) and re-tested fixes across builds to prevent repeat bugs.
  • Improved embedded C/C++ on MCU controllers (guard checks, edge cases, logic clean-up) to make behaviour more stable and predictable.
  • Supported IoT module integration end-to-end; validated connectivity/reconnect behaviour and documented repeatable failure patterns so others could debug faster.
  • Wrote clear bug reports and short status updates to keep cross-functional work moving smoothly.

Embedded Engineer Assistant

Xiamen Seebest Smart Home Co., Ltd.
Xiamen, China
12.2020 - 03.2021
  • Tested early smart-home prototypes against functional requirements and recorded results in a clear, consistent format for the team.
  • Logged defects with reproducible steps (setup, steps-to-reproduce, expected vs. actual), which reduced back-and-forth for senior engineers.
  • Assisted with firmware debugging on prototypes by running targeted checks and re-testing fixes across builds/devices before sign-off.
  • Kept basic test notes and checklists up to date so repeated tests were faster and results were more consistent.

Education

Master of Engineering - Computer Systems Engineering

University of Auckland
Auckland, NZ
11.2025

Bachelor of Science - Electronic And Computer System

Victoria University of Wellington
Wellington, NZ
11.2023

Skills

  • Device fault investigation and troubleshooting
  • Functional and system-level testing of embedded devices
  • Data logging and analysis (Python, Excel)
  • Writing clear test reports and documenting experimental procedures
  • Embedded C/C on microcontroller-based controllers
  • Basic embedded Linux and IoT integration
  • Working with cross-functional teams (hardware, QA, software)

UNIVERSITY PROJECTS

Underwater Image Enhancement — Compact Pipeline for Resource-Constrained Systems

  • Built a hybrid underwater image enhancement pipeline: a UResNet core model with lightweight post-processing (CLAHE, gamma correction, saturation tuning) to improve contrast and colour.
  • Designed and ran evaluation on the LSUl dataset using UClQE; achieved ~5% average improvementover the baseline UResNet.
  • Compared multiple post-processing variants and selected the best configuration based on UClQEbalancing perceptual quality and stability.
  • Documented methods, results, and limitations in a Master's thesis, with a focus on a compact
    efficient approach for resource-constrained settings.

POS & Signal Simulation Framework (Team Project)

  • Built an end-to-end simulation setup combining a POS system, a PySide6 UI, and a signal simulator so the team could run repeatable system tests.
  • Defined a simple JSON message format and basic logging between the POS and simulator, making scenarios easier to replay and debug.
  • Implemented order tracking and status/state updates in the POS to support clear progress visibility during simulated production runs.
  • Wrote concise run notes and test checklists, and helped integrate components across the POS/UI/coordinator so the final demo was stable.
