  • Support jobseekers with employment post-placement at 3 and 6 month milestone periods up to 12 months of continuous employment
  • Provide ongoing in-work support beyond 12-month continuous employment if requested by clients
  • Network and communicate with employers on regular basis to build and maintain strong working relationships to help jobseekers gain and stay in mahi (work)
  • Take a strengths-based approach to develop clients individual PATH (Planning Alternative Tomorrow's with Hope) plans for learners or career plan for adult jobseekers

I designed, wrote and facilitated the Navigator Life Skills 4 Learners course for four ORS-funded learners at Sacred Heart College, Lower Hutt over three days in July 2025


The course content was guided by some of the content from the NZ Certificate for Living and can be found in the appendix


The course was held in-person at Sacred Heart College Lower Hutt for four young women with disabilities (ORS-funded). The four learners required specialist, intensive life-skills support.


The course delivered a mix of in-person learning at the college combined with practical activities and tasks outside the classroom each day of the course


Learners covered topics such as:


  • Using digital tools to explore career pathways and training
  • Identifying and exploring resources in the community (for example libraries, Citizen's Advice Bureau, AA centre, Yes for Success)
  • Public speaking techniques and practice speaking to a group and/ or on behalf of others and connect with others
  • Completing a professional CV for a job application
  • Learning compass points and how to use a map and landmarks to navigate around your local area
  • Keeping yourself safe and self-defence with Kia Haumaru
