As a Vet Nurse Assistant, I assist the nurses and vets with tasks they do day to day. I perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis, benchtop analyzers, and slide stains. Assisting in medical procedures, including drawing blood, administering IV and SQ fluids, and cleaning wounds. I care for post-operative patients, monitoring and recording vital signs. I also care for medical patients who need close monitoring. I administer prescribed medications and provide food. In quieter times, I clean where is needed and scrub and sterilize surgical instruments, and assist in reception. I have, and still am, learning how to conduct myself in euthanasias and how to appropriately communicate with the families in tough times.
When in a Front of House role, you work for the customer. So, for me, resolving customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner is very important. Additionally, communicating orders to kitchen staff in an accurate and timely fashion, as well as checking food quality regularly before serving it to customers, is crucial. I extended my skills in processing payments using cash registers or POS systems accurately and efficiently, and tracking inventory levels of necessary supplies, such as utensils, straws, and napkins.
I was able to learn training new front-of-house employees on procedures and policies.
I was responsible for day-to-day operations, including opening and closing the store, till balancing and banking, and stock management. I also trained as a lotto operator during this position. I gained more self-managing skills and furthered my customer service skills in this job. My problem-solving skills were tested and developed over this time.
