I am excited to apply for the position of Classroom Teacher at Te Au Rere A Te Tonga. The motto of Te Au rere a te Tonga, "Pungao moe, pungao oho" (Potential energy awoken), deeply resonates with me. I have dedicated my career to empowering students and helping them unlock their full potential. I have successfully implemented student-led goals in my previous roles, tailoring the curriculum to meet individual needs and create opportunities for personal growth. I firmly believe that every student has unique talents and aspirations, and it is our responsibility as educators to nurture and guide them towards success. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals, from troubled youths in my own local community to high-achieving secondary school students. Throughout these experiences, I have developed a deep appreciation for the power of mentorship, the importance of positive feedback, and the value of fostering accountability through connection, not authority. What drew me to the position is the opportunity to work with students in a meaningful way that would make a meaningful difference in their lives. I am eager to use my background in sports, teaching and coaching to instill life skills in students, share personal experiences, and foster their academic achievement. Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the opportunity to join the Te Au Rere A Te Tonga team of like-minded teachers and contribute to the success of the students that come through the Youth Justice system..
