During this ongoing placement, I have gained confidence in caring for acutely unwell patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses. This experience has allowed me to enhance my nursing practice in a supportive and safe environment. The guidance from the nurses has been crucial for my professional growth, helping me to develop and apply my nursing skills with greater confidence.
Throughout this placement, I have worked with a diverse range of patients, from neonates to geriatrics. This exposure has helped me adapt my practice to meet the individual needs of each patient. Additionally, I have improved my ability to rapidly assess situations and have advanced my personal skills in phlebotomy and wound dressings.

Throughout this placement, this ward provided me the experience with working alongside patient 16 years old and older. I experienced significant personal growth by stepping out of my comfort zone, which I found rewarding. I had the opportunity to learn diverse skills, such as transporting patients to secondary hospitals and providing care in critical care settings. This experience deepened my understanding of pathophysiology and the complexities involved in treating critically ill patients. I particularly enjoyed the fast-paced environment of the ward, where I thrived and learned immensely.
[Community Health]. 5 Weeks
Throughout this placement, I worked with a diverse range of patients, from neonates to geriatrics. I was immersed in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that highlighted the importance of comprehensive nursing assessments for timely patient care. I had the opportunity to observe various healthcare procedures, including casting limbs and cardioversion. This experience emphasized the critical roles of communication and trust among colleagues in delivering effective healthcare. Additionally, I learned the skill of phlebotomy and was officially signed off for this skill, allowing me to perform it under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse

I primarily worked with a mother in her 30s and her newborn baby. This placement taught me several important lessons. One key lesson was understanding various mental health conditions and their impact on individuals. It also helped me develop greater compassion and patience when interacting with patients. Additionally, I learned that recovery is a gradual process and that supportive nursing care plays a significant role in how patients respond to treatment.
[Aged Care]. 2 Weeks, 2 Days
Throughout this placement, I learned the fundamentals of nursing and gained experience in providing individualized care. I also developed valuable time management skills, which helped me efficiently complete tasks within deadlines. Additionally, working with geriatric patients provided me with practical insights into their unique needs and how to address them effectively.
When I'm not at work or studying, I enjoy going to the gym to stay active. I also cherish spending time with my friends and family. Additionally, I love exploring the beautiful scenery of New Zealand and going for walks outdoors.
