I teach children in a range of Primary Schools across Auckland.

• Teach te reo Māori and celebrate cultural events.
• Teach children with English as an Additional language.
• As a team, we plan using a transdisciplinary approach which encompasses the NZ curriculum (Level 1), Local Curriculum and a Concept-Based approach to theme planning.
• Ensure the children’s interests are the main focus of my planning to develop a personalised, relevant and innovative curriculum which encompasses learning through play.
• Use restorative teaching approaches to encourage Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L).

• Regular communication with parents. We conduct parent-led interviews, teacher-led conferences, pupil progress meetings and two formal written reports each year.

• I have used evidence-based pedagogy to successfully teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
• I have managed challenging behavior and used the Responsible Thinking Room (RTR) as a strategy for children who require individualized behavioral support.

• I developed a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum using the Development Matters framework.

• I have used a variety of teaching strategies to teach high quality literacy lessons such as ‘Read Write Inc’ and ‘Talk for Writing’. In Mathematics, I taught using ‘Maths Mastery’ to teach fewer mathematical concepts in depth to develop a mastery of learning.

I have worked with children from Nursery to Year 6 in a range of schools across Derbyshire, England. In Derbyshire I worked in rural, inner city and suburban schools. In addition, I have worked in special educational needs, faith schools (Muslim) and with schools with a high percentage of children with English as an Additional Language.
