For the past three decades, I've been deeply involved in the transport industry. Growing up on a dairy farm, I learned the ropes of heavy machinery early on while assisting my parents. I began my career by obtaining heavy traffic credentials, starting with driving Class 5 vehicles on a spud farm before transitioning to line haul transportation in New Zealand for five years.
Seeking fresh experiences, I moved to the United Kingdom and drove heavy vehicles across England for two years. Upon returning to New Zealand, I focused on local driving with Class 5 vehicles. Expanding my skills, I obtained licenses for operating tracks and rollers, which led to a fulfilling three-year stint in a lime quarry.
After returning to linehaul driving for another four years, I transitioned into a dispatcher role with a transport company. Within two years, I was promoted to General Manager. Over the next 11 years, I oversaw significant growth, expanding the team from 8 drivers to 28 and increasing our fleet from 8 units to 28, while also growing the administrative team from 2 to 7 members.
I currently serve as the general manager of a transport company, two years into the process of establishing a new branch in my local area. My career path has been characterized by ongoing learning and a proactive approach to seizing opportunities. With a robust work ethic and diverse skill set, I lead by example, always willing to roll up my sleeves and tackle any task alongside my team. Passionate about the transport industry and dedicated to delivering excellence and thrive in both collaborative team settings and when working independently.
