Summary

I’m a Process engineer specialising in decarbonisation and energy reduction initiatives. I graduated with an honours degree in Chemical, materials and process engineering from the University of Auckland, and before that had a diploma in Chemical Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic.

Before that, I’ve worked in Bio-pharmaceutical/chemical R&D environments, most recently developing a closed-loop plastic recycling methodology.

Decarbonisation Process Engineer

  • Provided technical research and feasibility studies for transitioning multiple fossil fuel sites into using renewable energy sources before coal 2030/2037 requirements
  • Coordinated with Environmental department for achieving ISO 14001 and EcoVadis certification for customer requirements
  • Provided technical assistance for steam/energy loss analysis, via Honeywell Uniformance and data analysis
  • 4 approved, in-progress Capital Expenditure applications for decarbonisation, including an Electrode boiler, diesel loading phaseout, and heat pump for hot process water
  • In total, removed 5,658 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to 320,000 NZD in carbon credits

  • Adapted Dr Kaveh Shahbaz’s prior research of Eutectic solvents from refining oil into complete recycling of PET into virgin polymers, and then optimised it for maximum time/yield
  • Involved complete control and design of experiments, scheduling, reporting, and presentation
  • Awarded 1st Place CHEMMAT Materials Presentation by UOA’s CHEMMAT division.

  • Worked under Dr Sherry Xu , Dr Peng Cao and Kumar Jenar to test and establish a methodology for separation of titanium bisphenyl nanoparticles
  • Involved planning and designing experimental procedures in order to acquire results, quick thinking and improvisation from unexpected outcomes, and reporting to multiple stakeholders about progress/meeting their goals.

  • Interned under a Blackvue Dashboard camera distributor in Blockhouse Bay to design a cost effective, quick and 3D-Printable UV light polarizer frame for their cameras, due to shipping costs and delays from the US side requiring a local alternative
  • Work involved utilising autoCAD to iteratively design and optimise an alternative in a small time window.
