In my current role, I provide both legal and administrative support in a fast-paced legal environment. I regularly communicate with clients and legal professionals, manage deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy and organisation.
I attend hearings, investigation meetings, and mediations as needed. I draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties, and I conduct legal research and prepare written opinions on the topics I research.
My key responsibilities include legal drafting, case administration, research, document review, diary and file management management.
I worked collaboratively with the Professional Standards team and legal team, where my role was to facilitate the Council’s notifications and investigation processes. I was responsible for liaising with the Notifications Triage Team, the Council, and internal interested parties. I facilitated investigations such as Professional Conduct Committees and educational programmes. I responded to and managed requests for advice and notifications from members of the public, both over the phone and via online notifications. My key accountabilities included: risk assessments, triaging and reporting on notifications, case management, investigation administration, database management, and handling requests for information.
I worked closely with the firm's Partner, providing general assistance as well as supporting other staff Solicitors. I communicated with clients and third parties regarding file administration matters, ensuring accurate information was maintained. I managed client files and deeds, including opening, closing, and archiving them as required. I drafted and edited legal documents based on instructions from Solicitors and Partners. Additionally, I created and prepared document bundles for Court appearances, ensuring all materials were organised and ready for hearings.
I oversaw front office operations, including handling phone calls and emails, scheduling appointments, and providing customer service to clients. I processed legal documents, ensuring deadlines were met and documents were handled efficiently. I drafted and edited correspondence, such as letters and emails, on behalf of the Principal Lawyer. Additionally, I acted as a point of contact for clients and external parties, addressing inquiries and working towards effective resolutions. Where appropriate, I would take on tasks from the Principal and complete them independently, particularly when they were smaller or routine in nature.
I primarily supported my manager by coordinating meetings with project leads and presenting the Asset Protection workstream, which helped develop my communication, presentation, and organisational skills. I also conducted research to better understand how Asset Protection contributes to maintaining school property and reducing the maintenance burden on schools.
