Being an executive assistant within a Māori space is an amazing opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a positive impact. It's all about supporting and empowering others. I get to witness the growth and success of Māori within the education system firsthand, and that's truly rewarding. Kaupapa Māori is definitely my calling as I love to be involed with purposeful mahi that makes a difference for our Māori people. Since working for Te Akatea this has solidified to me that being in this space supporting and advocating for Māori is where I want to be.
I provide crucial support to high-level executives and help keep everything in their day to day running smoothly. Starting from managing calendars I also help with scheduling meetings, booking travel arrangements, preparing important documents, managing invoices and processing payments and on call for any important requests. Along with all these I have also had the privilege to network with many people including Iwi leaders, politicians, doctors and high profile people. This has enabled me to create great relationships which continue on today.
