  • Extensive experience in Criminal and Youth Court case management and progression in the District Court including daily management of family and sexual harm files from admin stage through to trial or sentencing Proven ability to create and maintain key relationships and collaboratively work with various internal and external stakeholders, in my current role this includes Judges, Police, Community Probation Services, local Iwi and social services, Victim advisors and support workers, Ministry of Education, Mental Health and addiction services and multiple other local organisations and groups Key team member in the organisation and implementation of Te Ao Marama into Kaitaia District Court, an initiative created to bring change to the way Justice Services are delivered Kaitaia has named it Tu Te Aniwaniwa, bringing this vision to reality has been an excellent learning opportunity and has allowed me to be a part of creating a new way of handling and processing cases through the Court The initiative has a focus on family harm by addressing defendant’s backgrounds, upbringings and past trauma they may have faced then providing wrap around services to assist the Whanau to potentially recover as a whole and hopefully break the cycle of family harm Experienced Court Registry Officer working across multiple roles in a small District Court which has taught me to work well in a high pressure and dynamic environment that is ever changing I am capable of making sound decisions and producing quality work even in time sensitive situations and can adapt and provide results I have worked on multiple work and reference groups within the Ministry of Justice which have focussed on reviewing processes and making changes to ensure services are delivered the best way possible My current role requires me to use and interpret legislation daily therefore I am very capable of understanding the complexities of legislation and applying it to enable me to carry out my duties as Court Registry Officer I thrive within a team environment but am also very capable and productive working solo I ensure that I regularly encourage and support my team members by keeping up good communication and encouraging collaborative working I always coordinate and lead the team to achieve goals and results to a high standard while supporting them in any areas needed I work hard to understand team needs and develop ideas and initiate change to improve performance and ensure they feel supported to carry out their roles I support new ideas and encourage diverse thinking and am open to discussing conflicting ideas and opinions
