Ward A8 Stroke and Vascular.

A8 Stroke and Vascular is a 32-bedded ward with a progressive care unit attached. A8 is a medical/surgical unit that assesses acutely and chronically unwell patients with various conditions, including but not limited to strokes, diabetic wounds, vascular wounds, amputations, and general medicine overflow.

• Assessed and prepared patients for procedures, performing initial and ongoing patient assessments.
• Monitored patients before and after surgery.
• Providing patient care and education to patients with chronic illnesses.
• Advocating for patients by supporting and respecting basic rights, values, and beliefs, while implementing culturally safe care.
• Caring for patients with various wounds caused by injuries, medical treatments and diseases.
• Responding to emergency situations with speed and level-headed approaches to provide optimal care, support, and life-saving interventions.
• Mentoring new graduate nurses.

• Checking families in and out of the facility.
