I have over 7 years of experience in Medical Administration with my work leaning more towards research since 2021. My work experience covers Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland both privately and publicly, working with a range of different medical databases, processes and protocols. SEC Coordinator

As the Supplies, Equipment and Catering Coordinator, it's been my responsibility to manage anything specific to these topics across our Christchurch and Wellington sites. Some tasks include:

  • Familiarizing myself with the most updated changes to "Good Clinical Practice" and maintaining a high level of accuracy and privacy when it comes to anything clinical research-related.
  • Facilitating training for all staff needing to use any medical equipment.
  • Maintaining proper care and storage of diagnostic tools and equipment and tracking inventory.
  • Assisting hospital staff in understanding the proper use of biomedical equipment, reducing user error incidents.
  • Familiarizing myself with clinical research-specific databases as well as having a high knowledge of general IT-related databases.
  • Being the main source of troubleshooting and problem solving when it comes to anything medical equipment or supplies related.
  • Building strong relationships with external suppliers and internal staff and keeping communications clear business-wide.

Senior Clinical Trial Assistant | Receptionist

I started my journey with New Zealand Clinical Research as the Sole Charge Receptionist before promptly moving laterally into a Clinical Trials Assistant role. From there, I gladly took on more senior responsibilities while maintaining my support for the Reception/Administration space. Below I've listed a few daily tasks under my responsibility during this time.

  • Created and maintained documents to create ease of work for all staff within the research space including clinical study source documents.
  • Provided training and orientated new staff members and taking them through the processes of clinical research.

Mental Health Advocate

Over the summer I decided to gain experience within the Mental Health sector with a nonprofit organisation as a Mental Health Advocate, in this role I helped by:

  • Managing social media content for the organisation and prioritising marginalised communities within this process.
  • Navigating the Public Mental Health System for at-risk people.
  • Attending meetings with government agencies as a support person for my clients to aid in navigating the systems and organising appropriate care.
  • Referring clients to funded counselling.
  • Providing information to clients to improve mental health.
  • Holding workshops on diversity - Including for the LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse communities.

ACC Redeployment Coordinator (Fixed Term)

Located within the Health and Safety team, I was appointed as the first ACC Redeployment Coordinator at Te Whatu Ora Canterbury, I was challenged to adapt to a project management type role that incorporated a HR/People and Culture style view on day-to-day ACC management for internal staff within the organization across Canterbury and the West Coast. I learned a lot in this role as shown below:

  • Created the ACC Redeployment Programme for Te Whatu Ora to ease pressure on the Public Health System during peak outbreaks of COVID-19.
  • Entered data, generated reports, and produced tracking documents. Enhanced operational workflows by maintaining well organized documentation systems and updating records accurately as needed.
  • Kept up to date with current ACC injury and COVID-19 research, collated that data and used to to create processes to work with.
  • Built relationships with HODs and Management to help support their injured and COVID-19 affected staff.
  • Managed project timelines for successful completion, ensuring milestones were met and deadlines were adhered to.
  • Tracked records, filed documents and maintained communication between clients to manage office activities.
  • Used job-related software to draft and finalize written correspondence and documentation.

Radiology Coordinator | Research Assistant

My time with the Te Whatu Ora Auckland Radiology involved my first look into research within the health system, below I listed some of my scope:

  • Assisted with Radiology specific Maori and Pasifika health research which included collecting data of health outcomes and experiences.
  • Provided customer service to patients, addressing concerns and answering questions regarding radiology procedures and preparations.
  • Reduced patient wait times with efficient coordination of radiology services and staff schedules.
  • General administration tasks including booking appointments, taking walk in patients, communicating with clinical staff, prioritizing referrals by urgency.

My stint at Mercy Radiology was based in the Bookings Office which involved general bookings and administration duties - Some included:

  • Explaining preparation protocols to patients prior to their appointments.
  • Liaising with private insurance companies and public funding systems to cover treatment costs for patients.
  • Organising bookings calendars for different imaging modalities.
  • Answering phone queries from patients about different procedures and deferring any questions that I'm not trained to answer to the appropriate clinical staff member.
