At Cape Lambert Rio Tinto operations We worked to change out rotable parts of the plant including large conveyor belt pulleys, gearbox drive modules, slew drives, balance machine buckets and a large variety of other parts subject to wear. I was involved in preforming pre shutdown isolations to ensure all plant is correctly isolated prior to work and post shutdown commissioning. I preformed routine inspections and diagnostics of plant machinery to either repair on the spot or provide the correct information for future shut down works. I would also preform general Workshop operations to aid the jobs in the field consisting of welding ( mmaw, Tig, mig ), Basic lathe work, as well as assembling parts in preparation for upcoming shuts.

Working as an apprentice for Page Macrae Engineering I Was involved in a broad range of engineering discipline's such as general machining using lathe and mill operations, Heavy fabrication producing machinery for local and international companies as well as general maintenance fitting to surrounding companies within the bay of plenty. I was involved in supporting maintenance efforts to various different industries such as port operations, pulp and paper, fuel storage facilities and food production factories which opened my horizon to safe work practices and implementing safe work culture.
