Since completing my initial placement at Selwyn College in early 2023, I have been working full-time as a Teacher of Chinese and ESOL. I teach across multiple year levels (Years 9–13), designing and delivering culturally responsive and differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of both native and non-native speakers. My role includes planning units aligned with the NCEA curriculum, supporting students from a wide range of linguistic backgrounds—including refugee and international students—and fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. I also contribute to assessment design, progress tracking, and pastoral care, ensuring students are supported academically and emotionally in their language learning journey.

• Deliver online English lessons focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for learners of various levels.
• Provide targeted preparation for Cambridge English exams (KET, PET, FCE) and IELTS.
• Utilise digital tools and interactive teaching strategies to engage students and support remote learning effectively.

2024 (Part-time – 1 day/week)

• Taught core English curriculum to Year 10 and Year 11 students, focusing on literary analysis, poetry interpretation, rhetorical techniques, and novel character studies.
• Prepared Year 11 students for NCEA Level 1 assessments and literacy standards, including unfamiliar text analysis and formal writing.
• Supported students in developing critical thinking, close reading, and textual interpretation skills aligned with NCEA expectations.
• Collaborated with English department staff to plan and moderate assessment tasks.

• Taught general English and exam preparation (KET, PET, FCE, IELTS) to primary and secondary students.
• Designed and delivered tailored lessons to support diverse learner needs and academic goals.
• Prepared students for assessments through targeted instruction in all language skills.
