Additional Information

I come from a small town in South Otago, called Milton. I completed primary and secondary education there, and then completely tertiary in Dunedin in 2017 while still living in Milton. The following year I decided to moved to Christchurch. After not knowing what to do for a career for around 5 years after completing my certificate at Otago Polytechnic, I decided I wanted to go back to study, and enrolled with the University of Canterbury majoring in Psychology, and minoring in Human Services. The goal is to be working with youth mental health. After being a lifeguard, and helping people while in that job, I found I wanted to continue to help people, but in a bigger way. I feel very strongly about mental health and the need for help for anyone in need. As a member of Ngāi Tahu, I deeply value Kaupapa Māori principles, which guide my approach to cultural, social, and professional engagements. I strive to uphold the values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and kaitiakitanga in all aspects of my work, ensuring respectful and collaborative approach that reflects Māori perspectives.

Hobbies

I play netball for the Belfast Netball Club, for the third season in a row. I really enjoy playing, and am quite competitive. I have enjoyed playing sport since I was a child. I love the feeling of a fast paced, high intensity game, and working with my team to get the win.
